AEMS’s Annual Fine Arts Conference: Pre-Conference of the Inaugural Maryland Arts Summit

AEMS was pleased to partner with the Maryland State Arts Council, Maryland State Department of Education Office of Fine Arts, and Maryland Citizens for the Arts for the inaugural Maryland Arts Summit, which took place at UMBC June 6-8, 2019. AEMS’s longstanding annual Fine Arts Education Conference (variously known as CAFE and MFAEC) served as the June 6th Pre-Conference and this year offered workshops and breakout sessions covering the areas of:

  • Arts Education Professional Development
  • Student-Inclusive Arts Education Advocacy
  • National, State, and Local-Level Arts Education Advocacy
  • Community Partnerships
  • Inclusivity & Cultural Competency

In addition to these exciting opportunities for learning, growth, and networking, the Pre-Conference included the announcement of the nominees and winners of AEMS’s annual awards:

  • The Alvin & Louise Meyerberg Arts Leadership Recognition Awards
  • The Jay Tucker Award of Outstanding Leadership in Arts Education
