This award program is presented to individual public schools that have exemplary arts education programs that include the following components:

• teach all the arts as specific disciplines and integrate the arts into other subject areas;
• provide imaginative learning environments and creative approaches to learning;
• include parental involvement;
• promote learning about other cultures; and
• provide community connections.

Maryland recipients of the Award are chosen by the AEMS Alliance Award Panel.
