AEMS is proud to partner with dance advocates from across the state in the presentation of the Maryland Public High School Dance Showcase (MPHSDS). The purpose Showcase is to highlight the status of dance instruction in public schools; to provide outstanding high school dance programs the opportunity to showcase their collective fine arts dance to the public in two concerts; to take master classes from college, university and professional dance personnel; to select All-State Dancers; to provide professional adjudicators to select All-State dancers and Showcase Award recipients; and for teachers and dancers to network with their colleagues around Maryland.
The 28th annual Dance Showcase will be held on January 6, 2017 at Goucher College. The snow date is Monday, January 9, 2017, also at Goucher College. All public high schools that have fine arts dance classes within their daily academic schedule are eligible to participate in the Showcase and perform in one of the two concerts that highlight Showcase day.
Dancers nominated by their schools will audition for All-State selection on November 29, 2016 at 5:30 PM at UMBC in the Fine Arts Building. The snow date for the audition is November 30, 2016. All-State dancers will be honored at the conclusion of the evening concert on Showcase day.
The Showcase Award for Professionalism and Performance is awarded to one school in the afternoon concert and one school in the evening concert who exemplify the award qualities.
