The Teaching Artist Institute (TAI) enables AEMS to build community artists’ capacity to contribute to student learning in and through the arts. The TAI program trains teaching artists in the use and understanding of the Fine Arts Voluntary State Curriculum as well as arts integration strategies that will enable them to more effectively engage teachers and students during their school residencies and other programs. Quarterly follow-up workshops on topics such as classroom management, program marketing, and constructive feedback are made available to program alumni and enthusiasts. TAI was initiated by the AEMS Alliance in partnership with Young Audiences of Maryland and the Maryland State Arts Council and is funded in part by the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education and Sylvan Learning.
