Cultural Arts for Education Conference

April 2, 2013

Dear Arts Education Supporter:

Please join Arts Education in Maryland Schools (AEMS) Alliance and arts educators and advocates from around the state for the fourteenth annual Cultural Arts for Education (CAFÉ) Conference on Thursday, May 30 at Towson University, Center for the Arts.

AEMS CAFE 2013: Fresh Food for Thought – Educate, Create, and Innovate will be devoted to exploring the philosophical underpinnings and practical applications of the national work on the new National Core Arts Standards: A Conceptual Framework for Arts Learning. The opening session will include a keynote address by artist and educator, Professor Olivia Gude, followed by a panel of experts, who are contributing to the development of the arts education standards, content, and skills. The panel will react to Professor Gude’s remarks and contribute their own perspectives to the conversation. The discussion will then be opened to the entire audience for comments and questions for Professor Gude and panel members. This should be a provocative and stimulating open session with much food for thought.

To continue the discussion around our themes of education, creativity, and innovation, there will be two rounds of sessions presented by experts in their fields. Interaction time for the participants will be part of each session. Lunch and networking will culminate the day.

Please join us for what is going to be a fun and informative morning focused on arts education in our schools.

Sincerely,

Mary Cary
Executive Director
